Bullseye Barbecue Sauce

Or are you just tossing the darts without knowing if they will even hit the target ?

Darts and dart leagues are big up here in Northern Wisconsin.Ya gotta have something to do in the winter.

In my day it was bowling, but I digress.

My oldest daughter is in a dart league and I went with her the other night....just for a night out to clear the cobwebs.

As the night wore on it became increasingly clear to me that some of these people were not the least bit interested in winning...they would step up to the line and just throw that old dart at the target...of course, their accuracy was in direct proportion to how many beers they had consumed.

To most of them this was a social evening and they didn't care if they scored well or if their team even won.

Now,I don't know a damn thing about darts...played for fun now and then and was lucky if I even came close, but I do know there is a strategy to the
game...just as there is in everything we
do....including Internet Marketing.

No matter what your product or service is,you must have a well thought out strategy for success...with out it you will not win the game.

Lets look at some darts we use in the Internet Marketing Game.

The Traffic Dart.....are you mistakenly thinking that the more traffic you can get to your website the better?

Traffic is important, yes, after all with out traffic you cannot sell anything. But the amount of traffic should not be your focus....the quality of traffic is what you should be most concerned about. The mistaken idea that HUGE traffic translates into good business is wrong.

You need to focus on getting targeted traffic. If you are marketing to pet owners...thats where your focus needs to be.

Concentrate on attracting traffic from the pet owners sector.

The Website Dart....this is where a lot of marketers do a face plant...including me,but that's another story.

Ok...you've got the targeted quality pet owner traffic interested. They are visiting, but not buying...whats up with that ??

You've worked so hard, but no results.....well don't just sit there, do something.

Get your head in the game and take a good look at your site.... Is your site neat and clean or is it jammed full of cute little animations and banners.Graphics are fine when kept to a minimum especially the ones that jump and gyrate all over the place.

Remember...your site is your office and you want to make a good first impression....and you have maybe 10 seconds to do so.

Which reminds me....how fast does your site load ? Just wondering.

Take a look at your navigation system...is it easy to navigate around your site. Are all links working and do they lead to
a live page.

Can Iguana owners find stuff just as easily as dog owners?

The Content Dart....as we all know, content is king.Do you have a page full of banners or do you give your
visitors content pertinent to their interests. On a site catering to pet owners you could have articles from Vets, you could
even have your local Vet write a weekly or monthly column answering questions from other pet owners.

The content on your site helps establish your identitiy. If your content helps your visitor by solving their problem, even better.
You need to help your visitor make that decision to buy,do that by giving them the content and information they need.

The Contact Dart....once you have your visitors attention and have made the sale....you need to keep in contact with that
person. You do that by offering them a free weekly or monthly newsletter.Your news letter does not have to be fancy,it can
be a monthly tip sheet geared toward their specific interest.. i.e. Pet Care and products for their pets.

Have your sign up form front and center and tell them to sign up to receive your monthly update filled with tips on pet care
and specials on products they can use.Offer them a freebie for signing up....they will, and before you know it you will have a
gold mine contact list for your pet care niche business.

Make sure that your full contact information is readily available. Many will never use your info to contact you,but knowing that
you are available at any time helps to assure folks that you are indeed a human and not some cold uncaring huge corportion.
Your picture is also a good idea.....again helping to reassure those that are not quite ready to do business with you.

There are lots of darts that you can throw when Internet Marketing. As long as you have your strategy, and are consistent in hitting your
target...you will always come out the winner.
